Conservation Minister Tama Potaka has today announced the appointment of Susan O'Regan as Chair of the QEII National Trust Board.
Queen Elizabeth II National Trust is an independent charitable trust which works alongside private landowners to protect open spaces of special significance through establishing and monitoring covenants.
It plays a critical role in supporting landowners and protecting conservation values, encouraging private entities to protect nature for the benefit of Aotearoa New Zealand's people and biodiversity.
"I believe Susan will provide sound leadership to the Board and enhance the Trust's connections with the rural sector and Iwi," Mr Potaka says.
"The QEII Trust is in good hands."
Susan O'Regan is a Waikato dairy farmer with strong connections to the rural community, and a current Crown appointment of the Waikato River Authority. As former Mayor of Waipa District, she brings considerable experience in local government, strong leadership, and stakeholder relationship management.
Susan takes on the role of Chair after the previous Chair, Alan Livingstone, sadly passed away in April of this year.
