Suspicious fire in Enfield carport, SA

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Enfield this morning that had the potential to destroy a house, according to SA Police.

Just before 8am today, an alert passerby spotted smoke coming from the carport of a house in Flint Street, Enfield and called emergency services.

Fire crews attended and extinguished the fire, which was burning in a couch in the carport, under the main roof of the newly built house.

The family were not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

The fire caused some damage to the carport structure, but fortunately, the fire was spotted early and extinguished before it could take hold of the property.

Fire cause investigators are attending to examine the scene.
