Suspicious fire in Mount Coolum, QLD

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Mount Coolum National Park that began yesterday morning, Queensland Police say.

Initial information suggests that between 4 and 4.30am yesterday a fire has started on the eastern side of the national park in the vicinity of Jarnahill Drive.

The fire continued to spread through the national park throughout the day. Emergency services and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service officers attempted to bring the fire under control.

The fire continues to burn within the national park however there is currently no threat to any houses in the area.

Police investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting suspicious in the area around the time of the fire commencing or who may have any information that may assist their investigations to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
