Suspicious fire in Penrith

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fire in Penrith last night, which is being treated as suspicious, NSW Police say.

About 7.50pm today, emergency services were called to a scrub fire at a reserve on Hickeys Lane.

Officers from the Rural Fire Service and Fire & Rescue NSW attended to the blaze, which had spread to nearby streets.

The fire was extinguished about an hour later; police have received no reports of injury.

Officers from Penrith Local Area Command are investigating the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
