Suspicious fire – Tanah Merah

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a residence at Tanah Merah in the early hours of this morning, Queensland Police say.

Around 12.15am police were called to a fire at a Nandala Drive house. On arrival police saw smoke coming from a bedroom in the house. The officers forced entry into the home locating and evacuating a 57-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman.

The officers attempted to extinguish the fire but were unsuccessful.

The fire was extinguished by emergency services however there was extensive fire damage caused to a bedroom and smoke damage throughout the house.

No one was injured in the incident.

A 30-year-old man was detained by police nearby and is assisting them with their investigations.
