Police are appealing for public assistance in relation to a number of suspicious grass fires being investigated south of Bowen, Queensland Police say.
Initial investigations indicate between 9am and 11am today, approximately 20 spot fires were lit on Peter Delemothe Road between Bowen and Collinsville.
Police are seeking information in relation to a white van that was observed in the area at that time as police believe the occupants may be able to assist with their inquiries.
No one has been injured as a result of the fires, however the fires present significant risk to properties in the area.
Police are appealing to any members of the public who have information in relation to this matter or relevant dash-cam footage from Peter Delemothe Road today to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
