Suspicious house fire at Southport, QLD

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire at Southport overnight, Queensland Police say.

Around 7.00pm, Police attended a private residence on Mildred Street after reports of a fire on the ground level of the structure.

The three occupants managed to evacuate the premises uninjured.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service officers extinguished the fire and there was no significant damage to the structure.

Preliminary information indicates that the fire was deliberately lit using an accelerant in a storage space under the living quarters.

Investigations continue.
