Sutherland Shire Council General Manager Scott Phillips resigns to move overseas

Sutherland Shire Council’s highly respected General Manager Scott Phillips has announced today that he is leaving Sutherland Shire Council to move overseas.

Mr Phillips has spent more than 20 years working within local and state government agencies, and was appointed the position of General Manager at Sutherland Shire Council in August 2015.

During his time as General Manager, Mr Phillips has overseen a period of great change in the Sutherland Shire, and he leaves with the organisation in a strong position and well placed to continue serving the local community.

In a joint statement, Mayor Carmelo Pesce and Councillor Peter Scaysbrook said "We are very sorry to lose Scott, but understand the personal reasons for his departure.

"Scott’s passion for innovation combined with his experience and management skills have been such an asset for this Council and we are all grateful for the time we have spent working side by side with Scott.

"On behalf of Sutherland Shire Council, our fellow Councillors and the Sutherland Shire community, we would like to thank Scott for his immense contribution to the Council over the past few years and wish him every success in his next endeavour."

Mr Phillips said it has been a great honour to serve the community of the Sutherland Shire.

"I am immensely proud of our achievements over the past few years," Mr Phillips said.

"I would like to thank all Councillors and staff at Sutherland Shire Council, an incredibly professional and experienced team that I feel very privileged to have been a part of and will miss terribly."

At a special Council meeting tonight it was decided that recruitment will commence immediately to replace Mr Phillips, who will depart at the end of October. Ms Manjeet Grewal, who has been a member of Council’s executive team for many years, will act in the position of General Manager in the interim.
