A man has died after being pulled from the water at a beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches today.
About 2.50pm today (Tuesday 16 June 2026), emergency services were called to Shelly Beach, Manly, following reports two swimmers had been pulled from the water and one was unconscious.
Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics commenced CPR on a man in his 40's, before he was taken to hospital in a critical incident.
The man died in hospital and is yet to be formally identified.
The other swimmer, a 20-year-old man, was uninjured.
Police were told the deceased man is a US National and was spear fishing with the 20-year-old man known to him before they were caught in a rip.
Investigations are continuing.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
