A Normanhurst man found himself plunged into a surreal state of disbelief, questioning if he was hallucinating becoming a newly minted millionaire in the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.
When we confirmed the prize with the winning man, he shared he'd been playing Saturday Lotto for over forty years.
"Thank you so much! This is the best news I've heard all morning," he laughed.
"This is so surreal. I'm wondering if I'm having a hallucination right now.
"My daughter is next to me and she's shaking with excitement.
"You must have the best job in the world.
"I'm an old man so I've been playing for a long time. I'd say around 40 years at least. I've never given up hope.
"I once won $2,000 but that's nothing compared to this.
"The numbers are all family birthdays so it's pretty special.
"We'll pay off the mortgage and I wouldn't mind a new car.
"Gosh, I need to sit down now."
His winning marked 18-game entry was purchased via The Lott website - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
Glenmore Park tradesman hammers home $1.25 million win
Cupid has delivered a Glenmore Park man the ultimate Valentine's surprise of a million-dollar Saturday Lotto win.
"I'm extremely excited!" he said when we confirmed the prize.
"I'm at work right now but my missus rang me crying and gave me the awesome news.
"It means my house is paid for! I'll be singing along for the rest of the day now.
"I'd love to buy a holiday house. It's amazing for my young family.
"I used to play weekly but stopped for a while. Then recently, I bought a ticket and kept getting a few small wins that I would just put to the next ticket.
"Thank you very much!"
