A 61-year-old man from Blakehurst, NSW, will face court next month for allegedly accessing and distributing child exploitation material online, Australian Federal Police say.
Yesterday morning (26 September 2018), Australian Federal Police (AFP) members of the NSW Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) executed a search warrant at a Ramsgate business premises. During the search, officers seized three electronic devices. A subsequent search warrant was executed at a residential address in Blakehurst, NSW, where officers seized two electronic devices.
The 61-year-old man was arrested at the business premises and taken to Kogarah Police Station. He has been charged with:
- using a carriage service to access child pornography material, contrary to s.474.19(1)(a)(i) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth);
- using a carriage service to make available child pornography material contrary to section 474.19(1)(a)(iii) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth); and
- two counts of possessing child abuse material contrary to section 91H(2) of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW).
The maximum penalty for theses offences is 15 years imprisonment.
The man is scheduled to appear before the Sutherland Local Court on 13 November 2018.
