The driver of a ride-sharing service has been charged following investigations into the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the Rose Bay area at the weekend., NSW Police said.
Police will allege a 22-year-old woman was walking along Bayswater Road, Vaucluse, about 12.30am on Sunday 18 October 2015, when a Hyundai i30 stopped beside her.
It’s alleged the driver, a 39-year-old man, was working for a shared-ride service when he offered the young woman a lift home.
The woman accepted and got into the car. The driver is alleged to have driven to a nearby side street where he parked and sexually assaulted the woman.
The matter was reported to police at Rose Bay and a full investigation commenced.
About 3pm yesterday, detectives arrested the driver at his home in Lakemba. He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court today.
