Take care near Lady Bay dunes

Lady Bay beachgoers are being urged to avoid playing or sitting at the base of sand dunes.

"We have some potentially unstable dune faces along Lady Bay so we are encouraging people to be cautious when it comes to beach activity near the dunes," Warrnambool City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Schneider said.

"In the past we have incorporated washed-up kelp in the dunes to help stabilise dune faces but conditions this year have not allowed this to occur to the usual extent.

"Everyone will still be able to enjoy Lady Bay and the beautiful Warrnambool beach - we're just asking people to be careful and avoid setting up their beach gear near the base of the dunes."

Signs are in place at Lady Bay advising people of the risks of unstable dunes.
