Take the pledge to protect Maria Island

Tasmania’s unrivalled natural environment is drawing visitors here from around Australia and the world.

While our thriving visitor economy has enjoyed sensible and sustainable growth, the Hodgman Liberal Government understands we must protect all that is special about our home.

That’s why Premier Will Hodgman and I are proud to have taken the Maria Island Pledge to keep it wild and pristine.

In October I had the pleasure of visiting Maria Island and was captivated by the scenery, history and the Island’s flora and fauna. It’s is a spectacular part of our State, which we should thoroughly cherish and value.

An initiative of the Spring Bay Destination Action Plan Group, the Pledge encourages all visitors to Maria Island to become custodians of the island’s immense natural and historical values.

I encourage all visitors to Maria Island to take the pledge at www.mariaislandpledge.com.au

The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service is also offering a 12 month all-parks pass to the 1000th person to take the pledge.
