Three people will face court after two firearms were seized by police investigating an aggravated break-in at Tamworth.
About 2.50am yesterday (Monday 4 August 2025), four people – allegedly armed with a machete and golf club – entered a home on Goodwin Street, Tamworth.
Police were told the group confronted a resident – a 27-year-old woman – who was hit on the leg with the blunt side of the machete.
The group left the home on foot before taking two CCTV cameras.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and commenced inquiries.
In another incident, about 4.20am, police were called to a home on Kinara Street, Tamworth, following reports projectiles were thrown at windows before an argument ensued, and a firearm was allegedly discharged towards the home.
There were no reports of injuries.
Following inquiries, about 6pm, police executed a search warrant at the same home where they located and seized two firearms.
Police will allege in court the firearms were stolen from a property in Kootingal last month.
A 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
He was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part, and not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited.
Following further inquiries, about 9.25pm, the same day, police attended a home on Morilla Street, Hillvue, and executed a search warrant where they located and seized a machete.
A 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
The man was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent-inflict actual bodily harm, and the woman was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.
They have all been refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division Court 5, today (Tuesday 5 August 2025).
Inquiries are continuing.
