State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad have joined their interstate counterparts for a National Day of Action targeting Comanchero OMCG members and associates under Task Force Morpheus.
Coordinated by National Task Force Morpheus, the operation is a joint law enforcement initiative that brought together police, government agencies, and partners from Australia and New Zealand in a synchronised effort yesterday (Thursday 5 March 2026).
In NSW, Criminal Groups Squad were assisted by Raptor Squad, Northwest Metropolitan Operational Support Group, Orana Mid-Western Police District, NSW Crime Commission, NSW Health and NSW Corrective services.
In total, police arrested two people, executed twelve Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks and – with assistance of NSW corrective services – executed five cell searches.
Police located four prohibited weapons, a replica firearm, about one kilogram of cannabis, heroin, methylamphetamine and a small quantity of steroids.
Incidents of note:
- About 11.20am yesterday (Thursday 5 March 2026), Raptor Squad officers conducting proactive patrols near Wollongong, pulled over an SUV in Figtree. Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located 14g of heroin and an amount of methylamphetamine and cannabis. A 26-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug more - indictable quantity, two counts of possess prohibited drug, possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, goods suspected stolen in custody and never licensed person drive vehicle on road - prior offence. He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 6 March 2026).
- About 6.30am yesterday, Raptor Squad executed an FPO at a home in Minto. During the search, officers allegedly seized knuckle dusters and one kilogram of cannabis. The occupant, a 29-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice and charged with possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit. He will appear at Campbeltown Local Court on Thursday 23 April 2026.
- About 6.40pm yesterday, a 26-year-old man was arrested at Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic). He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division - Court 3 today.
Further charges are anticipated.

"By acting together, the New South Wales Police Force and our partner agencies send a clear message: we will continue to disrupt, deter, and dismantle organised criminal activity wherever it emerges," A/Det Supt Baker said.
"No criminal organisation, or those working on their behalf, should ever assume they are beyond the reach of law enforcement."
