Taskforce Echo investigate Coburg shooting

Taskforce Echo detectives are appealing for public assistance following a shooting in Coburg earlier this week, Victoria Police say.

Detectives have been told the victim was walking west on Moore Street on Monday 17 April, with two other males just before 1pm.

As he approached Nicholson Street, a silver BMW pulled up alongside the trio who fled the scene after shots were fired.

It is believed that four shots were fired from the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

The 41-year-old victim remains in hospital in a non life-threatening condition after sustaining a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim and the two men, aged 41 and 53, left the scene in a 1998 LS400 Lexus sedan.

The BMW X5 was stolen from Laura Grove, Avondale Heights earlier that morning.

Taskforce Echo detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

Detectives are particularly appealing to two men, believed to be aged in their 20s, who witnessed the incident and spoke to police at the scene but left without providing their details.

Police also wish to hear from another man who attended the scene a short time after the incident who may have been wearing dark full length cultural attire.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
