Taskforce Falcon detectives have charged a man for his alleged role in a fatal shooting which claimed the life of Dawood Zakaria earlier this year.
About 5.10pm on Sunday 25 May 2025, emergency services were called to Woodville Road in Granville following reports of a shooting.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command arrived and located a utility with two men inside suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Two other men in the vehicle were uninjured.
It is believed as the Toyota Hilux turned onto Woodville Road, the occupants of nearby a Mercedes fired several rounds at it, hitting the driver and front seat passenger.
The injured men – aged 32 and 25 – were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital.
The older man, since identified as Dawood Zakaria, passed away in hospital.
State Crime Command's Homicide Squad commenced investigations under Strike Force Arrino, before Taskforce Falcon assumed responsibility days later when it was stood up to combat violent crime in Sydney.
Two men has previously been charged over his involvement in the shooting and remains before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries under Taskforce Falcon, about 1.05pm yesterday (Wednesday 1 October 2025), detectives arrested a 21-year-old in Blacktown.
The man was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception, deal with identity info to commit etc indictable offence, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime >$5000, possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court today (Thursday 2 October 2025).
Police will allege in court the man used a false ID to rent garages used to store the cars in the shooting.
