Taskforce Falcon detectives have charged a teenage boy for his alleged role in the fatal shooting which claimed the life of Dawood Zakaria earlier this year.
About 5.10pm on Sunday 25 May 2025, emergency services were called to Woodville Road in Granville following reports of a shooting.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command arrived and located a utility with two men inside suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Two other men in the vehicle were uninjured.
It is believed as the Toyota Hilux turned onto Woodville Road, the occupants of nearby a Mercedes fired several rounds at it, hitting the driver and front seat passenger.
The injured men – aged 32 and 25 – were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital.
The older man, since identified as Dawood Zakaria, passed away in hospital.
State Crime Command's Homicide Squad commenced investigations under Strike Force Arrino, before Taskforce Falcon assumed responsibility days later when it was stood up to combat violent crime in Sydney.
Three men have previously been charged over their involvement in the shooting and remain before the courts.
About 8am today (Wednesday 8 October 2025), strike force detectives arrested a 15-year-old male at Granville Police Station.
He was charged with take & drive conveyance without consent of owner and participate in a criminal group.
The male was refused bail to appear in a children's court today, where police will allege the boy staged a getaway car used in the offence.
