Twelve Tasmanian artists will receive funding of over $30 000 through Arts Tasmania’s latest funding round.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering on our long term Plan to improve the lives of Tasmanians, and this funding shows our strong commitment to our cultural and creative industries and the jobs and investment they create.
With the help of this funding, Dr Gina Mercer will represent Tasmania as a featured guest poet at the renowned Clifden Arts Festival in Ireland.
Dr Mercer received a grant through the Artsbridge program, which helps Tasmanian artists to travel interstate or overseas to pursue important development opportunities.
Emerging artist Arita Ghedini has been awarded funding through the Vita Brown Bequest Bursary to purchase equipment for her contemporary jewellery practice.
The bursary supports emerging artists to establish their practice through the purchase of materials and equipment and has been made possible through a generous bequest from Ms Vita Brown (1916–2012).
The funding recommendations were made by expert peers drawn from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register.
