Tasmanian Early Childhood Education Standards Rise

Tasmanian Government

A new program designed to lift standards and strengthen oversight in early childhood education and care (ECEC) services has been launched in Tasmania.

The program, Raising the Standard Tasmania, will deliver targeted and intensive support to Tasmanian ECEC services, including mentoring, workshops, eLearning opportunities, focus on continuous improvement, access to national resources, and professional development opportunities.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the program is focused on ensuring high standards of safety, quality education and effective regulation across the sector.

"Parents deserve confidence that their child is safe, supported and receiving high-quality education when they are in care," Minister Palmer said.

"The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a priority for our Government."

The program will be delivered over the next two years, complementing and building on existing work to ensure all approved Tasmanian ECEC services are meeting the National Quality Standard.

"The Tasmanian Government is investing in the health and wellbeing of children by strengthening child safety, building workforce capacity and improving service quality," Minister Palmer said.

A final report on program outcomes will be available in early 2028.
