Tasmanian Economy Shines On National Stage

Tasmanian Government

Tasmania's economy is going from strength to strength through the Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

This week alone, it has been announced that Tasmania again leads the nation in business confidence and business conditions, as well as record-low unemployment.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said our Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is all about backing in business to keep our economy strong and create jobs.

"The Tasmanian economy is strong thanks to business owners and entrepreneurs," Premier Rockliff said.

"Our economy has remained resilient and reaffirms Tasmania is the best place to live, work, raise a family, do business and invest.

"In an extraordinary feat, Tasmania has recorded an all-time record low unemployment rate of 3.8 per cent.

"These strong results don't happen overnight, but rather reflect more than 11 years of strategic Government investment to put Tasmania on the map.

"Tasmania has come a very long way from the dark days of Labor's reign when unemployment was nearly 8 per cent and Tasmania was in recession.

"Our economy is now worth a record $40.6 billion, an increase of $8.5 billion or a massive 26.3 per cent, since we came to Government.

"Our Government is only just getting started, and will keep backing business and enterprise with our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, outlining our targeted investments to keep achieving our economic goals."
