Tasmanians continue to support local businesses

ABS data released today shows retail trade in Tasmania was a staggering 17.8 per cent higher in August 2020 than a year earlier, at $655.2 million. Tasmanian annual growth in retail trade was the second highest of all states and territories.

The hospitality sector also grew 5.3 per cent in August 2020 compared to a year earlier, which is further evidence Tasmanians are getting out, exploring our beautiful state and supporting local businesses.

Tasmanians and Tasmanian businesses have shown incredible resilience and support for each other during what has been an extremely difficult year.

The latest retail figures show our glide path approach is working, but we know businesses are still doing it tough.
