Tassie's Top Tourism Town announced

Peter Gutwein,Premier & Minister for Tourism

I am pleased to congratulate the community of St Helens as the winner of Tassie's Top Tourism Town 2020.

From the local mountain bike trails and fresh produce to the pristine waters and fresh sea air the coastal town has a lot to offer visitors to the region.

I would like to also congratulate all eleven of the incredible entries including the townships of Stanley and Sheffield for taking out second and third place respectively.

We know our Tourism and Hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit through the COVID-19 pandemic and we recognise that our regional areas and attractions are vital in rebuilding tourism as a pillar of our state's economy and community.

The Top Tourist Towns competition has been a fantastic initiative providing even more compelling reasons for people to travel further within Tasmania experiencing its stories, history and people, while also supporting local businesses, jobs and economy.

Importantly, our new Make Yourself at Home voucher incentive scheme will make it even easier for Tasmanians to support our local businesses and economy by getting out and experiencing their home State.

I encourage Tasmanians to make yourself at home and explore this incredible state we are lucky enough to call home.
