Taxi driver injured in Yarraville hit-run

A taxi driver has been injured following an alleged hit-run in Yarraville early this morning, Victoria Police say.

A stolen car and taxi collided at the intersection of Somerville and Williamstown roads shortly after 1am.

The taxi driver was trapped in his vehicle before being freed by emergency services and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The second driver has allegedly fled the scene on foot.

However a short time later a man made a call for medical assistance from a nearby address.

Police also attended and noticed the man matched the description of the driver they were looking for.

The 24-year-old New South Wales man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he remains under police guard.

The car is believed to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary in Kennington on 4 January.
