Taxi driver robbed at Hope Island, QLD

Gold Coast police are investigating after a taxi driver was threatened and robbed in Hope Island early this morning, Queensland Police say.

It is alleged that around 1.30am the 39-year-old male driver picked up two boys from the Esplanade in Paradise Point as a fare.

The taxi then travelled to a service station on Broadwater Avenue at Hope Island at the passengers’ request.

When they arrived one of the boys claimed they had weapons and threatened the driver, demanding money.

The pair took the man’s bag and fled the scene on foot.

Police from the dog squad later located two boys aged 13 and 17 on Crescent Avenue.

They are currently assisting with inquiries.
