Taxi driver robbed at Mareeba, QLD

Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was robbed at Mareeba tonight, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 6:40pm a taxi driver picked up a male passenger at Constance Street.

As the man went to pay for the fare, he grabbed the taxi driver’s wrist and attempted to steal the takings.

After a brief struggle the man fled the vehicle on foot with a sum of cash.

The 77-year-old taxi driver was not physically injured during the robbery.

Investigations are continuing.
