Taxi driver robbed; investigation underway at Wagga Wagga

An investigation is underway after a taxi driver was robbed at knife point in Wagga Wagga overnight.

About 9.30pm (Monday 7 September 2020), a taxi driver was seated at a taxi rank on Lake Albert Road, Kooringal, when he an unknown man entered his vehicle.

The man produced a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The taxi driver complied, and the man fled on foot in a northerly direction. The taxi driver was not physically harmed.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 20-25 years old with a medium to solid build and a shaved head with slightly longer hair on top.

He was wearing a grey jumper, black tracksuit pants and was carrying a black backpack at the time of the incident.
