Taxi driver stabbed in Ashfield

Investigations are underway after a taxi driver was stabbed in Ashfield overnight, NSW Police say.

About 10.15pm (Sunday 27 May 2018), a taxi driver attended Ashfield Police Station on Victoria Street, Ashfield, after he was injured by a female passenger.

Police have been told the incident occurred nearby. The female passenger has allegedly stabbed the taxi driver to the head after attempting to rob him.

The taxi driver, a 50-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a wound to the head before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command have established a number of crime scenes and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
