Taxi robbery in Griffith

Police are appealing for public assistance following a robbery of a 54-year-old taxi driver in Griffith yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 12pm yesterday a taxi driver, aged 54, travelled to McKern Place, Griffith to pick up a man.

Whilst enroute to another location, the male passenger produced a knife demanding money from the driver.

The taxi driver complied and was not injured during the incident.

The armed man fled the scene on foot with cash.

Officers attached to Griffith Local Area Command were notified and commenced investigations.

Police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance.

He was last seen wearing a dark grey hooded jacket, baseball cap, sunglasses and carrying a dark coloured backpack.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward.
