Teacher charged over alleged indecent assault, NSW

A teacher has been charged after allegedly indecently assaulting a student in Sydney’s west last year, NSW Police say.

On Wednesday 18 May 2016, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following a report a 12-year-old girl had been indecently assaulted.

It’s alleged the 12-year-old girl was indecently assaulted on a number of occasions in 2015 by a teacher at her school.

Following their inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Prestons last Thursday (26 May 2016), where they seized computers and storage devices.

A 49-year-old man was arrested at the location and taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with three counts of indecent assault of person under 16 and procuring a child for sexual activity.

He has been granted bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court today tomorrow.

The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
