Teen arrested after attempted armed robbery in Parramatta

A teenage boy man has been charged over the alleged attempted armed robbery of a man in Parramatta, NSW Police say.

About 9pm on Sunday 1 April 2018, a 55-year-old man was walking along Robertson Street, Parramatta when he was approached by two people, armed with scissors.

Police have been told they pushed the man to the ground and attempted to take his bag, but ran when a nearby resident came to his assistance.

Police from Parramatta Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 4.45pm (Wednesday 4 April 2018), police arrested a 15-year-old boy on Church Street at Parramatta.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with assault with intent to rob in company and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of their duty.

The boy was granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Tuesday 1 May 2018.

Investigations are continuing.
