Teen arrested after pursuit in North Sydney

A teenage boy is in custody after a pursuit and crash at North Sydney a short time ago.

The incident began about 10.55am (Wednesday 16 January 2019), when police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Miller Street, North Sydney.

The driver initially stopped but as police approached the vehicle, they allege he accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.

It continued through Crows Nest, North Sydney and Cammeray and ended at the intersection of Ernest and Miller streets when the car hit three other vehicles.

The driver allegedly ran from the scene and was pursued on foot by officers from North Shore Police Area Command, assisted by officers from the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS), and PolAir.

The teen was chased in Lytton Street before being arrested inside a residential unit about 11.15am. He's now been taken to Chatswood Police Station.

A 68-year-old man, who was the driver of one of the damaged vehicles, was checked at the scene by paramedics as a precaution.
