Teen arrested over car break-ins at Bridgewater, South Australia

A teenager was arrested after allegedly breaking into nearly a dozen cars at Bridgewater overnight.

Police were called to Oak Avenue, Bridgewater about 11pm after a member of the public disturbed someone inside his parked car. The suspect ran off.

Police located the suspect a short time later on Mount Barker Road, heading towards Verdun.

The 14-year-old male youth from Aldgate was allegedly found in possession of property, including glasses, sunglasses, coins, a powerbank, watch, wooden ring, and makeup, believed to have been stolen from at least ten vehicles in the Bridgewater area.

He was arrested and charged with illegal interference and theft and bailed to appear in the Mount Barker Youth Court today.

Police are trying to track down the rightful owners of the property and ask Bridgewater residents to check their vehicles this morning. Anyone who believes their vehicle has been interfered with is asked to contact the police assistance line on 131 444.
