Teen arrests after crime spree in eastern suburbs

Police have arrested two youths after a series of offences in Melbourne's inner east overnight.

It is alleged three or more offenders in a white SUV were involved in attempted carjackings in Doncaster East and Templestowe Lower shortly before 1am.

It is believed the same group were involved in a series of aggravated burglaries on Inverness Way in Balwyn North approximately one hour later.

Police attended and recovered an unattended stolen white Hyundai SUV.

A search of the area resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing youth on Burke Road.

A 17-year-old from Pascoe Vale was arrested on The Boulevard a short time later.

The youths are currently assisting police with their enquiries and are expected to be charged later today.

The investigation is ongoing.
