Teen caught more than 70km/h above speed limit at Dubbo

A teenage boy allegedly detected travelling at 76km/h above the speed limit in the state's Orana region has had his license suspended.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 September 2019), Dubbo Highway Patrol officers conducted speed enforcement on Douglas Mawson Road at Dubbo when it is alleged a Holden Commodore sedan was detected travelling at 126km/h in a 50km/h signposted area.

Police stopped the vehicle a short distance away and spoke to the driver, a 17-year-old man from Dubbo, who holds a Provisional (P1) drivers licence.

He was issued an infringement notice for the offence of exceeding the speed limit over 45km/h.

The penalty attracted a $2635 fine and the driver was immediately suspended from driving for a period of six months.
