Melbourne Highway Patrol officers have charged a teenager after a vehicle was allegedly driven erratically and struck a pedestrian in Melbourne's CBD yesterday.
It's alleged a stolen Ford Escape was driven east along tram tracks on Flinders Street when it struck a 57-year-old Southbank woman who was standing at the intersection with Elizabeth Street, about 10.45am.
The woman was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver is then alleged to have performed a U-turn outside Flinders Street Station where police and Protective Services Officers patrolling the area drew their firearms.
The vehicle continued along Flinders Lane where it struck several unoccupied parked cars.
The 16-year-old from the Greater Dandenong area was later arrested without incident on Beaconsfield Parade in Albert Park.
He has been charged with reckless conduct endanger serious injury, drive manner dangerous, drive at speed dangerous, unlicensed driving, careless driving, fail to have proper control of vehicle, fail to render assistance, theft of motor vehicle and handle stolen goods.
He was remanded to appear at a children's court later today.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a business on Luster Circuit in Cranbourne South about 2am yesterday.
Police have confirmed this is not an act of terrorism nor was it a targeted attack.
