Teen charged following break and enter and pursuit in Nowra

A teenager has been charged and investigations continue following an alleged break and enter and pursuit in a stolen vehicle in Nowra this morning, NSW Police say.

Just before 1am today, officers attached to Shoalhaven Local Area Command were patrolling Shoalhaven Street when they attempted to stop a Isuzu D-MAX ute.

Police will allege the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated to Lyndhurst Drive, when the vehicle came to a stop and the driver and passenger fled on foot.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy, was located in bushland nearby and arrested, before being taken to Nowra Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and police pursuit not stop.

Further inquiries led police to believe a home on Jasmine Drive, Bomaderry, was broken into prior to the pursuit, where alcohol, car keys, and a vehicle were stolen.

The teenager has been refused bail, to appear at a children’s court today.

The passenger was not located and investigations continue.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
