Teen charged following pursuit with stolen Mercedes in Whalan

A teenage boy has been charged following an alleged pursuit with a stolen Mercedes in Whalan this morning, NSW Police say.

About 8am today, officers from Mount Druitt Local Area Command were patrolling Woodstock Avenue, Whalan, when they saw two Mercedes travelling together.

Officers attempted to stop the cars when they allegedly failed to stop and fled in different directions.

A pursuit was commenced with one of the cars, which was later terminated due to safety concerns.

The car was later located abandoned on Jersey Road, Emerton. A crime scene was established and investigations commenced.

A short time later, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were arrested nearby. They were taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

The 14-year-old boy was released pending further investigations.

The 13-year-old boy was charged with fail to stop police pursuit (Skye’s Law), receiving, and drive whilst never holding a licence. He was refused bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court tomorrow.

The second Mercedes was later located abandoned on Daru Way, Whalan. A crime scene was established and investigations are continuing.

Police will allege both Mercedes were stolen from a home on Portland Crescent, Dover Heights, around 12.30am today.

Both cars have been seized and will undergo forensic examinations.
