A teenage boy has been charged following an alleged aggravated break and enter in the state's Orana region this morning.
About 2.55am today (Friday 2 January 2026), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a home on Timgarlen Avenue, Dubbo, with reports of a break and enter.
Police arrived and were told an unknown male had entered the home via a window before stealing house keys and car keys from inside the residence and making off in a Mitsubishi sedan, which was parked in the garage. The vehicle reportedly had an amount of cash inside.
The residents – two women and a man in their 40s – were uninjured.
Following inquiries, police located the allegedly stolen vehicle parked at an address in Macquarie Street, Dubbo. Two people – a 13-year-old boy in the driver's seat and an unknown person nearby – allegedly attempted to flee upon police arrival, with the unknown person evading officers.
Police arrested a 13-year-old boy and took him to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and larceny value less than or equal to $2000.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Friday 2 January 2026).
