A teenager has faced court, charged following a string of alleged break and enters in the state's New England region yesterday.
Between 9pm on Monday 2 March and 6am on Tuesday 3 March 2026, three break and enters were reported in the Tamworth area, including at a residence on Waree Drive, Hillvue, followed by an address on John Street, South Tamworth, where a Honda sedan was allegedly stolen and driven to a home on Woodside Road, East Tamworth, where a third break and enter was allegedly committed.
Following investigations, about 7.55am today (Friday 6 March 2026), officers attached to Oxley Police District, supported by Western Region Operations Support Group, attended a home on Lambert Street, West Tamworth to execute a search warrant, where they arrested a 15-year-old boy.
The teenager was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Friday 6 March 2026), where he was formally refused bail to face a children's court on Friday 13 March 2026.
