Teen Charged in Traffic, Drug Bust: Operation Soteria

A teenage boy will face court today following an investigation into the use of unregistered motorcycles on public roads in Coonamble, in the state's west.

About 3:30pm yesterday (Sunday 13 July 2025), police attended a premises in King Street, Coonamble where a teenage boy was located allegedly hiding in a roof cavity.

During a subsequent search, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District located a small amount of Methylamphetamine in the boy's underwear.

A Honda CRF450 motorcycle was also seized.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with:

  • use unregistered, registrable vehicle Class A on road
  • use uninsured motor vehicle on road
  • rider without helmet ride with one passenger without helmet
  • never licensed person drive vehicle on road
  • drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • possess prohibited drug and
  • breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before a Children's Court today, Monday 14 July 2025.
