A teenage boy will face court over a number of break and enter offences in the state's west.
About 7am on Tuesday 10 February 2026, police were called to a home on Longworth Street, Cobar, following reports of a break and enter.
Officers attached to Central North Police District were told between 10pm on Monday 9 February and 4am on Tuesday 10 February 2026, unknown people gained entry and stole a bag and a white Ute before they drove away.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 8am on the same day, police located the white Ute parked on Parkdale Road, Bourke, where they seized the vehicle to be forensically examined.
Following inquiries, about 6pm yesterday (Thursday 12 February 2026), police arrested a 14-year-old boy in Bourke area.
He was taken to Bourke Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal less than or equal to $60000, enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence, face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (two counts), be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and breach of bail.
Police will allege in court that the boy attempted to break into a home in Orange on Sunday 4 January 2026 and failed to pay for fuel at a service station in Cobar on the same day when the Longworth Street home was broken into.
He was refused bail to appear at children's court today (Friday 13 February 2026).
