Teen charged over armed robbery near Maitland, NSW

A teen will face court after allegedly robbing another teen at knifepoint at Woodberry yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police were told about 5.30pm (Tuesday 1 May 2018), a 14-year-old teen was on his bicycle at a skate park on Lawson Avenue, when he was approached by another 14-year-old teen.

A knife was allegedly produced and the rider pushed off his bike, before it was taken by the other teen.

Police from Port Stephens / Hunter Police District were later notified of the incident and commenced inquiries.

About 9.30pm (Tuesday 1 May 2018), officers attended a home in Thornton and arrested a 14-year-old teenager.

He was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Wednesday 2 May 2018).
