Teen charged over stabbing near Kempsey, NSW

A teen has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man on the state's Mid North Coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to a home on Gowings Road at Dondingalong, near Kempsey, about 3.30am (Tuesday 1 January 2019), following reports of a stabbing.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District arrived; however, the alleged victim had already been taken to hospital by his friends.

Police attended Kempsey Hospital and spoke with a 20-year-old man who was being treated for a stab wound to his stomach.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 17-year-old boy after a short foot pursuit near the home in Dondingalong.

The teen was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding. He was bail refused to appear at a children's court on 2 February 2019.

Police were made aware of another alleged stabbing at the same home that night.

Officers also spoke with a 16-year-old boy at Kempsey Hospital and inquiries into that incident are continuing.
