Teen charged over street robberies in Kensington

A fourth teenager has been charged following investigations into several alleged robberies in Sydney’s east in July, NSW Police say.

Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command began investigations following reports of several street robberies in the Kingsford and Kensington areas between Monday 17 July and Tuesday 25 July 2017.

It is alleged youths on bicycles and armed with knives approached pedestrians and robbed them of laptops, cash and other personal items. A number of the victims were assaulted during the robberies.

In late July, two teens were arrested, with a third teen arrested in early August. All three remain before the court.

today, officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command arrested a 17-year-old boy at a Carlingford home.

He was charged with 11 offences including two counts of robbery armed with offensive weapon, four counts of robbery in company, robbery in company cause wounding/grievous bodily harm, and assault with intent to rob in company, two fraud offences and one count of larceny.

The teen appeared at a children’s court today and was refused bail to reappear at a children’s court on Monday (4 September 2017).
