Teen charged with robbery offences - Newcastle City Local Area Command, NSW

A teenager has been charged following an alleged armed robbery on the NSW Central Coast on Sunday, NSW Police say.

About 6.50am (24 April 2016), a male armed with a shortened firearm entered a service station on Sandgate Road, Birmingham Gardens.

Police will allege he threatened the attendant and left the scene with cigarettes.

Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, today, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with armed robbery and robbery (x2).

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court tomorrow.

The additional robbery charges allegedly relate to separate incidents at Hamilton Railway Station on 28 April 2014 and a service station at Shortland on 29 April 2014.
