Teen dies after crash near Tamworth

A teenage girl has died following a single-vehicle crash near Tamworth this morning.

About 7am (Thursday 24 June 2021), emergency services responded to reports a Hyundai Hatch had hit a tree after leaving the New England Highway, Bendemeer, about 40km north of Tamworth.

The 17-year-old driver – and only occupant – was assisted at the scene by passing motorists, before NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers attached to Oxley Police District arrived.

She was stabilised and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where she died.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
