Teen dies in crash near Trangie, NSW

A teenager has died in a single-vehicle crash near Trangie in the state's Central West this morning, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to the Mitchell Highway near Trangie about 5.45am after reports an eastbound car had left the roadway and hit a tree head on.

The passenger, a 19-year-old man was taken immediately to Dubbo Base Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics but the 17-year-old driver was trapped for some time.

Once released, he was taken to Narromine airport to be airlifted to hospital; however died en route.

Officers from Orana Local Area Command attended and are continuing inquiries into the cause of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
