Teen killed in crash, NSW

A teenage girl who was travelling in a car with her family has been killed in a crash on the state’s Mid North Coast today, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 11am today a family of seven where heading up the coast on the Pacific Highway, Herons Creek, near Port Macquarie.

A van being driven by a man, with a male passenger, pulled out from the verge of the Pacific Highway and commenced heading north.

It appears the vehicle carrying the family swerved and rolled several times.

A 16-year-old girl was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene while the female driver suffered head injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

The remaining family members have also been taken to both John Hunter and Port Macquarie Hospitals for treatment to injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The driver of the van was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for mandatory tests.

A crime scene was created at the crash site as officers from Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit conduct further inquiries.
